Sometimes life takes you in a different direction than you intend, and it ends up being even better than you had imagined. That’s certainly the case for Hair Stylist Niki Hefty. “I was in college working on a business degree,” said Niki. “I needed a part-time job and was hired as the receptionist at Rau Salon. As I watched the interaction between the stylists and our guests, I realized our team had a lot of fun making people look beautiful … so after the owner asked me to consider the beauty industry, I said yes. Now I’ve been in the beauty industry for 12 years!”
After choosing to pursue a career in hair, Niki attended Gateway College for schooling. Then she completed our salon’s apprenticeship program with Wendy Rau as her trainer. During this time, she laid the foundation for the versatile work yet to come. Throughout the years Niki has honed her skills and continues to show each guest how beautiful they are, especially when they have a hard time finding it in themselves. “I work hard, so every client would say that their entire experience in my chair was great. I want them to have fun but feel relaxed in the end, too. Most importantly, my hope is that they feel beautiful and completely confident in their look.”
Niki is known for her ability to help clients feel comfortable, confident, and providing a laugh if necessary, but her focus also lies in expanding her skills. She attends multiple hair shows each year, and she always looks forward to the in-salon classes, so that she can continue to learn new techniques. Along with the whole Rau Salon team, she always strives to be knowledgeable of what colors and cuts are trending.
Outside of the salon, Niki stays busy spending time with her husband and two kids. She also loves decorating her home and interior design.
